A Lecture on Art

It always begins
with a subject
with an idea
a drop of inspiration
allowing it to trickle
to flow
to slosh around
until one is flooded
immersed,
drowning
gasping for breath

Air!
relief through release
solace in expression
from phantom,
to tangible
from a dream,
to a reality
mind and body
recklessness and caution
enthusiasm and passivity
satisfaction and frustration
serenity and anarchy
singing in one voice
for a common purpose

To depict,
to portray
evidences of
thoughts,
ideas,
emotions,
originality,
individuality
creativity,
and perhaps,
a soul.
