Folktale

There was once a tale of legend,
Of a gift sent straight from heaven
It may reside in shelves of kings,
But in men’s hearts is where it lives

There they stood, in the high mountains,
Where sky and earth meet in a kiss
As the wind and dirt embrace
Cherry blossoms, a gift of grace

Together they mask mountainsides,
Forming a blend of many hues
That overwhelm all who see,
For they blend so effortlessly

As small the flowers seem to be,
There is one thing many agree,
With various shades of white and pink
Its size and presence share no link

Despite their infinite grandeur,
Their lives still lie on a prayer
When it pours, slowly they shall fall
Thus, nothing to smile for at all

I never needed all the trees,
Just a flower with all their hopes and dreams
Protecting dreams of old and new,
For it will always bloom in you
